◦ Set a time to snack. The acid produced in the mouth from eating candy is most harmful when allowed to extend over a long period of time. Dedicating a 5 minute 'snack time' is better than allowing yourself to graze on candy over an afternoon.
◦ Do not brush immediately after. Counterintuitive, I know! However, the acid produced in your mouth from eating candy causes weakening of your enamel, brushing within 15 minutes of eating candy can actually cause more damage. Wait 15 minutes before brushing if possible.
◦ Stay away from sticky candy. You know the ones - they get stuck between your teeth. Candy that gets stuck between your teeth can cause more cavities.
